We have for sale a unique 9ct gold Blue John Double sided pendant. It has been beautifully hand crafted in Sheffield, England, and features a Hallmark from the Sheffield Assay Office. In a pear shape, and set with a beautiful unique piece of Derbyshire Blue John on one side and Whitby Jet on the other. Blue John stone is a rare, semiprecious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.

Whitby Jet is fossilised driftwood, discovered in Yorkshire in England. In the Victorian era jet was mined both inland and along the coast. Jet is no longer mined and all our jet is found through natural coastal erosion. Whitby jet is famed for is deep and intense black colour and the lustrous shine. Jet is a spiritual gemstone and is considered to have abilities of protection and purification, with grounding energies. This is a great stone for emotional healing, having calming effects on people with anxiety and depression.
